THANKSGIVING TABLESCAPE AND TEA TABLE

Welcome to the 40th Tea Time Tuesday
The Beverage and Bakery Center
Thanksgiving is over, but I wanted to share my new dishes,
I had for my Thanksgiving Table this year.
View toward the kitchen door.
View of my China Closet
My husband built and used the old French doors in our 100 year old home.
I used the antique chest which has wooden wheels on it, for a Tea Table

There is a glare on this print, but I love it so much, it means to me,
Giving Thanks for a meager cup of soup.
Yes, the print is a little high on the wall, I am just getting my dining room back in order the day before. Thanksgiving. Not all is done yet.
View toward family room and kitchen, Yes that is the shelf I made,
and placed on a dresser, and painted a large crackle finish.
Wow, You can see in my China closet, I see my new gingerbread cookie jar. lol
View from the family room, I have not got the shelves back into the china cabinet,
which holds my collection of Royal Albert Old Country Roses China
Behind the dining room is a small sun porch, my grandchildren usually eat and play there.
Notice I haven’t put my bench back at the table?? Not sure if I am,
I am liking the change using the chairs I bought at the annual garage sale, all six for $40.00.
I love the centerpiece of sunflowers and gourds in a dough bowl.
I place it on our wood heater in the family room during the summer months.
The iron piece is my daughter’s, she was using this room last month, now she is in another.
Night view
Centerpiece
Place setting
Do you remember these goblets? When I was a young girl,
Grandma always had goblets on the table for iced tea.
I found six of different patterns in thrift shops over the years. This is the first time I have used them,
for they reminded me of going to Grandma’s on Thanksgiving Day.
Can you tell I just love sunflowers?
BJ at Sweet Nothings you have been wanting to see a better view of the sideboard,
I built from the reclaimed wood from our walls.
I used  blue milk paint and stain the top and the shelf beneath. I see the cords of the lamps
I usually have wooden boxes full of dishes underneath and you can’t see the cords. lol
View toward the family room of the buffet. I am holding out for an antique one. lol
The view is from the small sun porch.
So I took the drawers from our old kitchen island turned them upside down and added shelves for dishes.
The bottom part I bought at an auction years ago.
I hope you all enjoyed seeing my Thanksgiving Tables,
I hope to get all my things back into the dining room soon.

THANKSGIVING AFTERNOON TEA

Welcome to the 39th Tea Time Tuesday

This afternoon my Granddaughter, Hannah and I had Tea
Centerpiece: pumpkin plate tier, Pilgrims and salt/pepper pumpkin shakers
The three tier pumpkin plates are filled with cinnamon rolls, creme filled cupcakes, and fudge
We are drinking Tasha Tudor’s Breakfast Tea
The water glass is  pattern is Sandwich, I bought many glasses, cups, and
saucers for my daughter Jennifer while traveling/working the Southern States.
Green napkin looks great with the pumpkin stem on the plate and bowls.
I do love this setting, with the salt and pepper shakers
Table view of the back of our dog trot.
See the Native American Indian doll under the TV shelf?
My daughter Jennifer, gave me this doll for Christmas one year.
The papoose the doll is in is a turtle shell
I love this pumpkin Tea set for it can be used all Fall!
Again I placed a pumpkin plate underneath to catch any spills.
View toward our wood heater, I was so hoping my husband would have the wood heater with the glass doors installed this year! It is still sitting in the shed.
I love this little pumpkin tablecloth, it is vinyl.
Works great when you have children for Afternoon Tea.
A few guns in the corner, my husband going out to hunt a turkey for Thanksgiving Dinner.
As I took a nap this afternoon, I dreamed I put butterscotch pudding with crushed butterscotch candy in the little pumpkin bowls. When I awoke, I decided it was a great idea, for I love butterscotch pudding.
I also used this pudding and candy for the gold on Saint Patrick’s Day.
I used fake pumpkin and fall leaves on the sides of the tier.
My, Granddaughter, Hannah is learning not to play jingle bells while stirring her tea.
Hannah is now four and half, we have had many Tea Parties,
this day she has her first Hot Tea, with milk and sugar.
Learning to hold her cup and look into the cup.
She said the cup is a little heavy, so she used both hands.
For Thanksgiving the Indians and Pilgrims shared their gold, which was the food they had stored.
Here is our pumpkin of Gold!
Most of my Teapots have strainers, built in the spout, but not this one.
I let Hannah carefully pour a little tea in her cup, forgot to use the strainer, she said thats OK Granna.
I will remember to do it next time.

PUMPKIN AND SCARECROW LOW TEA

WELCOME TO THE 37TH TEA TIME TUESDAY
My tray is all packed up to bring a little Tea and Cheer to my 79 year old neighbor Margaret,
She had surgery, a few weeks ago, and back in the hospital over the weekend. I called to check on her, she is on a liquid diet and had nothing but a little tea, broth, and juice the last few days.
I quickly packed up a tray, while the kettle was on. I packed up the frozen low fat yogurt in a basket, while my husband took a case of Ensure out to the truck.
My camera is acting up, so some of the photos are blurry.
What could be better with a hot cup of tea, frozen yogurt, and Ensure for someone that is on a liquid diet.
I placed the Tea setting on her coffee table, which is called Low Tea, when using a coffee table.
My neighbor was so pale when I got there, after a little Ensure, and hot Tea she had a little color in her face, and said she felt so much better. Thank Goodness I had cases of Ensure on hand.
I bought the tray, from a drug store.  Gold vintage cups my daughter bought at a thrift shop.
Little pumpkin bowls I bought at Dollar General to hold jam and clotted cream.  They worked great for the yogurt. The little scarecrows, and scarecrow flatware holders from Cracker Barrel
How I wish the pictures were not blurry! So sorry for it was cute, and made Margaret so happy.
I just love her coffee table
I am in love with this tray so much
I tried so hard to lighten this picture of Margaret sofa, behind the pillows is woven cane.
I love her sofa, she had two old churns on each side of the sofa.
A fall tea for a special lady!

I would love to see in the following weeks what your Baking up for the Holidays!

Pumpkin Tea With Maryann

Welcome to the 36th Tea Time Tuesday
A Simple Tea Spent With a Friend
My friend called and said she was 100 miles away coming toward my home.
I was not feeling well, as I usually go try to pick up and clean up before someone comes to visit.
Oh, but not this day, not up for it.
Nearing her arrival time, I thought I would fix us a little Tea, for she had been driving most of the day pulling her new RV, I knew she had not eaten. Her husband is a pilot with the aviation company, that my husband and I use to work for. I was one of his bosses.   Maryann and I met while working and traveling, when Maryann came out to stay with her husband. Out of 12 men I was the only woman, and we worked the southern states, coming home for just a week here and there each year. I use to drive a 40 feet Motor Home, Maryann is now pulling a large RV with a truck. It is hard to drive on small roads.
I wish her so much luck, for I do not think I would like to pull an RV!

As my dining room is now gone, I had to hunt for everything I wanted to use.
I still haven’t found the fall tablecloth I bought months ago! I have hidden it well.
I just started pulling things out, I was going Halloween, as you see the black runner,
but changed it when I could find my dishes. lol
Adding finishing touches to the 3 Tier plate rack.
I used my pumpkin plates, love that I can use different plates on this Tier.
Reese’s Candy, Cinnamon Cake, and Chicken Salad Sandwiches
Added a few fall vines to the tier.  By each leg of the Tier are pumpkin salt and pepper shakers.
I found this pumpkin Teapot and cream and sugar at Ross last year for $8.00, I do love a bargain!
This is the first time I have used it.
Creamer and Sugar
I added a pumpkin plate underneath to catch any drips from the teapot

After setting the table I realized I did not have cups to match, I used a wheat pattern for the teacups
Place Setting
I used little pumpkins for the napkin rings
Here I sit awaiting my friends arrival, I am very tired this day. Yes, I know I look pale, even with a little makeup. Being sick, I almost did not show you any photos of me. lol
My friend Maryann Arrives
Notice in my family room lots of my pictures are down off the walls as I’m trying to make do with some of my dining room in there. Haven’t got it all in place yet.
Sure wish I would have taken off the black scarf, I hadn’t planned to take photos.
I did have two rocking chairs here in front of the wood heater, Maryann loved to sit here with me.
On the right by the French Doors is an old wood box, I made to hold firewood.
My family room is Native American Indian,
The silver chandy is one I have been silver leafing for another room.
Do you notice my family room is a DOG TROT?
A dog trot is usually about 8 feet wide, ours is 15 feet wide x 28 feet. The dog trot was 36 feet long,
we added a wall to make a 7 feet wide porch on the front of the dog trot.
When designing the house floor plan, my husband wanted a dog trot,( a large hallway going from the front to the back of the home, used as a porch to let the southern breeze flow in) Well I comprised with adding French Doors on each end, for the chickens, cats, and dogs be laying in here, I did not want to have to walk outside through the dogtrot to get into the dining room and kitchen.  Instead we made it a family room.
After realizing the room that is 13×16 was just too small for our family gatherings.
The smaller room is now my parlor. Which is still piled with boxes of dishes from my dining room.
My daughter stay is temporary and will be moving out.
Then I will get my dining room back together.
I am telling Maryann about Tasha Tudor Tea, and about Afternoon Tea
We are drinking Tasha Tudor’s Breakfast Tea
Which was great with just sugar, but loved it even more with a wee bit of milk!
The large TV will be finding another room soon!  Hubby has wood stacked close to the house this year.
My husband comes in taking our picture and she tells him I made her use the cloth napkin, for I was prissy. lol
Really she did not want me to have to wash anything, as I have not been feeling well.
We had opened the door for the fire in the wood stove was hot. I said how’s this for prissy?
My Manners Went Out the Door!
I then threw a piece of bread out the door to some of my chickens,
we see just outside the door. lol
Big Red is saying Hey, throw some more. lol
Country Life, and the Love of Afternoon Tea
Only could I do this with a Friend! lol
We both got so tickled for what I had done!
As you can see!
I do love this pumpkin tea set! I’m working on another Tea,
which will not be thrown together as this one was, hopefully!
Maryann and her husband stayed in their RV two nights, here with us.
She said the next morning when she woke, she looked out and seen the smoke coming from the chimney stack. That my home looked like a Thomas Kincaid Cottage, with the arbor and flowers growing along the fence. My home is really a 100 year old Craftsman Bungalow, which we are remodeling,
and will be for a long time.  Everyone jokes if I decide I do not like a wall where it is,
 it gets knocked down. lol
Maryann wanted to take me shopping as I never get to get out much. We first went to Jackson an hour away down the Natchez Trace to eat and shop at Cracker Barrel,(one of my favorite places)! She then asked me where I wanted to go, but I was so tired, I just said home. We had planned to go to some of my other favorite stores. Maybe next time. I showed her how to get back on the Natchez Trace, as the exit we took to come home was just a few miles from the Airport. Maryann decided to take me to see some of the pilots,
I had worked with for five years. When we arrived my husband was there on his motorcycle.
It was so much fun seeing these guys again, we were like family, when working and traveling.
Oh, being around the pilots and the airplanes brought back so many memories.
Four and half years ago, we took a leave of absence from work, thinking we would be gone just 3 months. My Health and Doctor would not let me return to work.
I do miss it all the guys, and work so much!
Oh, but soon we have a new adventure, I will be telling you about!

Witches, Pumpkin Tablescape

Welcome to the 35th Tea Time Tuesday
This past Tuesday was my daughter, Suzette’s Birthday.

My daughter Jennifer and her two children have moved in with us, so no more dining room.
As many of you know we are remodeling our 100 year old Craftsman Bungalow, the only room with enough room for her with the enclosed porch off the dining room,
for the children’s bunk beds is the dining room.
I have dishes hiding everywhere, some of the dining room is in the family room,
among other rooms in my home.

Each year we celebrate Suzette’s Birthday with a Halloween Party,
roasting hot dogs, marshmallows, and carving jack-o-lanterns.
This Birthday was to be a stormy night, so instead we had Chinese Food.

Centerpiece
Yes, I mixed in paper plates, cups and napkins, black plastic table cloths
Just for fun I was adding a fake spider to the Witches Brew,
which is actually coke floats.

Grandchildren’s Table

We always have a pumpkin cake on Suzette’s Birthday.
The place I order my cakes from the lady was not in. So in a pinch we bought two bunt cakes, a cupcake for the stem, store bought icing, which was very, very thin! Made a hard time decorating this pumpkin cake.
I tinted the icing orange and coconut green for the grass.
My daughter, Jennifer came in and saved me, and finished icing the cake, which turned out better than we thought as the icing was so thin and gummy.
This next week I will have a Tea to show you. Oh, but we loved the coke floats,
for it was so hot here that night.
