The Roost Cafe in Leesburg Mercantile Remodel

Welcome to the 77th Tea Time Tuesday
Today I am sharing our Cafe in the Old General Store
The Roost Cafe in Leesburg Mercantile
We opened thinking we would finish remodeling, for it would be slow at first.
We were so wrong, we have been busy everyday,
with not much time to spare, or time to sleep.

In the middle we planned to build two more tables, for now it has one make shift table, as you can see the tablecloths are a little large, did not get to finish trimming or hemming the tablecloths.
The right side of the floor had to be rebuilt, I had  planned on faux painting lines and doing a darker stain to match the old tongue and groove flooring. Hopefully I will get to do it when we get more things together here.
My husband made the tables, I repainted, recovered the chairs,
and painted black polka dots on some of the wooden chairs.
I painted the faux brick walls, which were pres-cut rough wood. Some are crooked, my first try at painting faux brick.  But then the old store is crooked too. lol I planned to do a crack in the faux brick, maybe later.
One grape is hanging on the fence, I haven’t been able to go look for grapevine with green leaves and grapes, I wanted to decorate the top of the fence with.
The coffee center
Each morning the cafe fills up  about 5:30 am with coffee drinkers,
eating their bacon, egg, sausage and cheese biscuits.
Later we hope to add a Breakfast Buffet, and soon biscuits with sausage gravy.
Just inside the entrance of the cafe, looking out into the Old General Store
We used a lattice fence I bought for my yard, a few years ago on sale, but it is six feet tall and too tall for my yard, so we decided to use it for the cafe. I think it gives it an outdoor look, with privacy from the store customers.
Hanging above each table are French prints.
Another view of the Coffee Bar, I spray painted black,
and purchased at a garage sale for $15.00 with two stools.
Right side of the cafe, hold red lanterns, and a rooster candle in the middle with tin pierced shade
Each of the plates and holder on these tables came from Hobby Lobby
The  rooster napkin holders from Family Dollar
Each day for Lunch and Dinner the cafe is full.
Will soon need my Tea room remodeled, as it is as big as the cafe and old general store rooms.
We still have many other rooms, as the Old Genera Store is like a tiny strip mall in the country.
We have people driving an hour away to come and eat, Our Cafe has been very successful.
I am working on our menu, as many are requesting to take it to different cities and towns.
I do so wish for two more tables. I still have chairs to recover and paint.
Each table has large or small roosters, the trash can is now replaced with a tin tan one. lol
I want to add a window at the end, and a table there for now.
We are looking into to buying a buffet for this wall.
The red booths came with the store, so I just went with colors to match.
Here is our Super Hamburger, we have sold hundreds in the first month
Hope to get a count soon. lol
A closer view of the chairs with polka dots
While remodeling we found  in the ceiling a black metal vent, where an old wood stove used to be. Myy husband found on Craig List an old pot belly wood stove, just a month before, he going to add it for decoration this winter.
Entrance to the Roost Cafe inside the old general store
I have many more Roosters to add to the cafe, soon as I have more time and tables. lol
My friend Maryann, brought this plant in the teapot and painted the name of the old general store on it.
We love it Maryann!!!
Restroom, my husband built from old tin, and old wood from a barn.
Inside is modern plumbing. lol

Our Old General Store

Welcome to the 76th Tea Time Tuesday
I have been sharing our  old general store and cafe remodel the last few weeks
As you view the photos, there is still much to do, and new things to add.
My husband, and Leslie, our first customer, and first dollar. Leslie, was excited she made the first purchase.
Leslie is my daughters childhood friend, she is like another daughter to us.
She just happened to be the first customer, and we were all excited she was!
First order of sodas
Our grandchildren are so excited, they wanted to to fill the whole cooler. They only put in  a few sodas.
They love to come in and see what new.
They are so excited to start getting the store together.
A long way to go!

Old General Store has been here since the early 1960’s
 Old General Store
I did not capture the whole store for there is a garage and another room on the right of the building.
Our huge hamburger, with my husband’s secret ingredient, is a huge success

As you view the photos remember there is still much to do to finish our remodel
The soda/ice cream bar I wanted so much, later shall be used to serve ice cream
My husband built this bar stool from a tractor seat, and farming parts
Still needs to be painted

 Notice the old scales
 View out the front window

Restroom, my husband built to look as an old out house, yes there is new plumbing inside.
New counters built
Tobacco grown a few years ago by my husband for fun, We can’t sell it, trade, or give it away.
Makes a great conservation piece.
The old coke machine the kids love
Old Deli Cooler

Pizza coming soon, but shall be our own franchise name. We have been testing pizza for weeks now.
We now have a winner, lol we wanted a quality pizza, our pizza will be made from scratch
Will tell the name of our home style pizza soon.
Beverage bar, will hold coffee, tea, slush, and fountain drinks, in the next few weeks
Thank you all for letting me share our new adventure, with you the last weeks, next week I will show you the cafe.
Thank you all for your prayers, I let Monday slip by and did not get this post up. I am fighting a few battles with my heath. I have been fainting most days. I been back to the Doctors and now have been told there is a world known Doctor that people from all over the world see for what is now happening to me. I have been wishing for a miracle, My Doctor wants me to go and see this specialist, I told him I couldn’t go out of the country. My Doc then told me he is in the next room. I would say that is a miracle by itself. I have been told  a little of what will happen, but until I see the specialist, I will wait and make my decision then.

Old General Sore & Cafe Remodel

Welcome to the 75th Tea Time Tuesday

Today I’m sharing the start of the cafe,
which looks like an outdoor cafe,
but it is inside of the store.

We used fence I bought a few years ago, from Home Depot.

Just inside of the entrance to the cafe
Left side of the cafe, the floor added was once where the large cooler was,
which was falling through the floor.
Notice the right wall, in a post before I showed how I painted faux brick on the wall.
This corner is now where the coffee bar is
All the chairs have been repainted and recovered with new vinyl.

Outside the cafe in the store, leading the the bathroom which is an old outhouse look
The cooler is now on the left
Here is the faux brick wall, and the coffee bar

Cant wait to show you all that has been done since these photos. Soon!

We have been working hard with very little sleep, the store/cafe is doing great.
I am still on a mission to help my family, as I battle the thing my Doctors says can’t be done
I plan to win for I know I have God and my Faith is strong!
Thank you all for your lovely comments and prayers, as I continue to battle what is going on with my health.

Beginnings of an Old General Store- Cafe

Welcome to the 73rd Tea Time Tuesday
In the next few week I will be sharing the remodel of our
Old General Store/Cafe
First day of owning the store
This is not the main entrance,
my husband had to have a photo with the horse shoe for Good Luck
These photos are what we came in too.
This first day all was torn out ready to start the process of a six month remodel
All the windows and doors were broken out.
This is the cafe part, which is now moved to another area
Lots of cleaning going on here. lol
Notice the cooler and cafe part has been moved, both are now in a different area.
 Can’t wait to show you!

This part is totally gone now, Thank you hubby!!!

The tearing out has began
The big cooler was sitting here, now its a cafe
The building had to be jacked up and support beams put underneath the building.
Floors and walls replaced
My husband and grandson working on the floor behind the counters
The next few weeks, I will share the long process of the Old General Store/Cafe remodel.
Stay Tuned for the finish will come soon!
My husband worked long hours, before and after my surgery. We still have many things to finish.
But it looks so much better as you shall see in the next weeks.
I had a bad fall this week, but I am OK just bruised, sore, and pulled loose some of my last surgery.
I Thank You all for all your lovely comments, and knowing I have very little sleep in the last two weeks.
I’m late getting this post up again.
Hope this week we shall be able to get more sleep. lol
My Doctors call me and check on me each week. One thing I can share with you, is I am loosing my voice.
They say the voice box is dysfunctional.  Side effect are dizziness, and numb hands and fingers.
Those who know me, know I am a talker. lol So this is no fun.
I have to keep talking and there is no cure, or medicine to help, just speech therapy.
Which I plan to overcome and not have to go speech therapy.
So should you call my voice is hoarse, but I am not sick with anything. lol
The worst bad news I have had in the last weeks is still too hard for me to talk about, but I have a positive attitude and I have beat many things in the last years. Even though the Doctor says this is impossible,
I know with God and my faith,, anything is possible!
Hold me in your prayers as I start to overcome, what is said can’t be done!
